'I had a good night last night, first time with no drain alarms. The u-drain worked perfectly. My wife is grateful that there are no drain bags to lift this morning. You have improved our life'.

OUR STORY

George McCarthy was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2009 and after surgery he was left with a colostomy and a urostomy.
George was advised by his stoma nurse there were no alternatives to night drainage bags. Horrified by the urine spills, bedroom smelling of urine, as well as having young children running into his room and the constant reminder of his illness, George desperately needed an alternative to night drainage bags. George worked with his great friend Ged Murphy and a local business hero, Gerry Mason, whom invested in the company and U-drain was invented.

As a result of U-drain’s urology success, it is now adopted by Kidney Units in UK hospitals for home peritoneal dialysis patients, to drain away 15 litres of their waste dialysate throughout the night.

Unfortunately George passed away on 5th December 2019.  Inventing a medical device, raising £100,000 for The Christie Hospital and relentlessly helping other cancer patients to take up the fight, whilst battling cancer himself, portrays a very special person.
